Ken Baldauf, is the director of the Program for Interdisciplinary Computation at Florida State University where he teaches thousands of students each year in computer literacy, management information systems, digital media, Web development and programming classes. The center is dedicated to teaching students how to incorporate valuable computer skills into their chosen area of study and future profession.

Between teaching and authoring Course Technology's Succeeding with Technology and Principles of Information Systems, Ken has developed a keen sense of what technology news and information is most important for college students as they prepare to enter the job market. Ken considers it his professional mission to help students from every educational discipline achieve the maximum benefits from the "power of technology".

If you’ve attended previous Course Technology Conference you may have had the pleasure of seeing Ken present on some of the latest technologies and how they can be incorporated to engage students in an IT course. Ken spends a great deal of time researching issues surrounding computer and information literacy/competency/fluency in order to insure that he is teaching his students concepts and skills that will serve them well throughout life. He also is a gadget junkie that enjoys reviewing all the latest technologies and analyzing their potential impact on society.

Ken’s most recent projects include being the voice behind Course Technology’s “CourseCast of the week” and Microsoft Office 2007 In a Flash video lessons. CourseCasts provide students with an “on the go” source of the latest technology news. Ken starts each day sifting through dozens of online news sources to find the latest and most relevant technology stories along with explanations of what they mean and why they matter.

In a Flash provides students with quick video tutorial lessons on Microsoft Office 2007. Working at their own pace, students learn the fundamental software skills by following a project from start to finish, broken down in easy-to-comprehend steps so students understand how the software works. They also see how the software may be used in various professions.

Through textbooks, podcasts, and video lessons, Ken has partnered with Course Technology to provide students with innovative ways to acquire valuable knowledge. But that’s only the beginning. Watch for the release of a revolutionary new online learning system from Course Technology and Ken Baldauf that is sure to change the way you think about teaching.
