A Day in the Life…

The primary function of the Manuscript Quality Assurance (MQA) group is to ensure the high quality that our customers have come to expect from Course Technology books. The MQA group is responsible for ensuring a seamless interaction between the published text of our books and the software that each of these books teaches or demonstrates. Specifically, when the text of a book details interaction with a particular kind of software, the MQA team validates the accuracy of steps, references, and figures corresponding to the onscreen experience.

Additionally, MQA performs various other tasks, all of which contribute to the overall quality of Course Technology products. These tasks include:

Verifying the accuracy of Data and Solution files, which are employed in the course of teaching skills (Data files) and illustrating a correct “solution” to a given exercise (Solution files)– provided to instructors.

Verifying the accuracy of the Instructor’s Resource materials. This includes verifying the accuracy of the Test Bank materials, Distance Learning exercises, and other online content.

Authoring. Last year MQA authored one book and is currently in the process of authoring another. Because of the MQA group’s experience and technical expertise we were asked to author two books when external authors could not be signed.

Working with the SAM Development Team. We work closely with the SAM team to verify the accuracy of the SAM content. This includes testing the SAM Documentation, the SAM Student Edition Labs, and performing SAM Remediation to update SAM with the latest content updates.

MQA as a technical resource. The MQA group assists Editorial and Support Services in resolving customer issues of a technical nature. As a result of testing our books, MQA has an intimate knowledge of the content and can help resolve technical problems that customers have regarding software installation or configuration.

MQA – another reason that separates Course Technology from the rest of the industry.
