Thomson Course Technology Celebrates 11th Annual Conference

Premier IT industry education event draws more than 700 to San Francisco

Boston, MA – - April 19, 2006 – Thomson Course Technology, a division of Thomson Learning and the worldwide leader in computer education publishing, held its 11th Annual National Conference March 29 through March 31 in San Francisco, California. The three-day conference is the premier industry event for computer technology educators.

The Conference 2006 drew more than 700 professors, administrators and teachers from universities, community colleges, career and high schools from across the country attending.

The conference featured more than 60 educational sessions and hands-on labs, a keynote presentation by Nancy Fagen of Novell Americas, an exhibit hall showcasing the latest Thomson Course Technology products as well as those of the show’s sponsors – Novell, Certiport, ProSoft, HostingSpot.com, Thomson NETg – and a special “Streets of San Francisco” extravaganza offering various tastes of the city as well as dynamic entertainment provided by Cirque performers, mimes and dancers.

Attendees had the option of choosing educational sessions in eight different learning tracks covering a variety of topics including: the latest advances in Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista, relevant issues affecting enrollment, engaging students and promoting the beginning computer class, teaching introductory programming with Alice, emerging technologies like RSS and PodCasting, simulation and game development, and structuring a learner-centered online course. Among the various hands-on labs offered were: MOS and IC3 certification, Dreamweaver 8, Visual Basic 2005, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Programming with Alice, and Flash 8 to name a few.
